Get Balanced® Research Initiative
Every answer helps the world understand balance.
The Get Balanced® Research Initiative studies how people achieve balance in body and mind, and how everyday habits affect the body's Master Regulator, known scientifically as the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).
Plant Chat® is where that research comes to life. Every member takes part through short, structured survey studies, and their anonymized answers combine to reveal patterns no single person could see. It is the reason Plant Chat® exists.
Cannabinoids are one of many plant compounds that interact with the ECS.
The Master Regulator
What is the Endocannabinoid System?
The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a cell signaling network found throughout the body. It helps keep many systems in balance, including sleep, mood, appetite, stress response, pain perception and immune function. That is why we call it the Master Regulator.
Plants interact with it too. Cannabinoids such as THC and CBD come from cannabis, and other botanicals and foods contain compounds that act on the same system. Diet, exercise, sleep and stress all shape how it works.
EndocannabinoidsMessengers the body makes, such as anandamide and 2-AG.
ReceptorsCB1 and CB2 receptors that receive those signals.
EnzymesBuild and break down endocannabinoids when needed.

When plants disrupt the Master Regulator
Understanding real world reactions
Identify patterns in how people react to different cannabinoid containing plants.
Explore whether reactions are linked to overstimulation or suppression of ECS receptors.
Examine tolerance, receptor downregulation and neurotransmitter imbalance as possible contributors.
Compare responses between seasoned plant medicine users and people new to these compounds.
Investigate how diet, lifestyle, stress and other botanicals influence tolerance and recovery.
